From: eric@flesch.org (Eric Flesch) Newsgroups: sci.astro,alt.astronomy Subject: 112,044 Quasar Candidates for those with idle spectroscopes Date: Mon, 07 Oct 2002 17:11:10 GMT NNTP-Posting-Host: 210.48.22.5 Get 112,044 quasar candidates from the Free Lunch radio/xray/optical catalogue on ftp://quasars.org . It is 11.2Mb zipped, and displays 425,932 optical objects (visible on APM or USNO) which are associated to xray/radio detections, or are known quasars. Associations presented are: ROSAT HRI: 13,902 optical associations out of 103,098 xray detections ROSAT RASS: 24,585 / 124,730 xray ROSAT PSPC: 28,048 / 102,005 xray WGA (PSPC): 18,897 / 88,434 xray FIRST: 160,249 / 743,059 radio, including 9229 double radio lobes. NVSS: 244,509 / 1,814,748 radio, incl 2242 lobes. SUMSS: 16,320 / 99,554 radio, incl 16 lobes. These associations yield 112,044 good quasar candidates, with calculated percentage of being a QSO displayed for each object. Also 27,394 catalogued quasars are displayed (regardless of radio or xray detection), which are visible on APM or USNO, as well as all radio/xray-associated galaxies, blazars, and stars. There is also a more comprehensive Master catalogue on the same site, which gives additional information about each optical object. There are also small sample files for you to eyeball. QUASARS.ORG.
